Museum of Contemporary History of Russia

The State Central Museum of the Contemporary History of Russia is strategically placed at the most vibrant area of Moscow centre as Tverskaya Street is a real entrance to the heart of the city. The building is a listed monument of academic classicism (18th century), the main meeting point of open-minded intellectuals and well-known "English Club" before the revolution of 1917 started. In 1924 the residence was renowned as the "Revolution museum" which in turn became Museum of the Contemporary History not so long ago. Museum collections maintain over one million items reflecting all history points of Russia since 19th century. USSR leaders private collections certainly catch all eyes: here’s a carved pipe "Stalin and Truman playing chess", a palace style tusk presented by Vietnamese communist party to the participants of the 20th USSR Communist Party Congress, a dressing-table set (a gift for Stalin from Italia) and a lot of other unique items.
