SAMOILOV FAMILY APARTMENT
The Samoilov Family Museum is a unique memorial apartment of drama actors in Saint-Petersburg. Since 1869 the owner of this three-storied private mansion has been Vasily Vasilievich Samoilov (1813-1887), a famous actor of Alexandrinsky Theatre, representative of the second generation of this actors’ dynasty. During his life the house was one of the busiest cultural hubs in Saint-Petersburg, where actors, musicians, artists, writers got together.
In the museum, which was opened in 1994, the lay-out and interior are preserved as they used to be when this apartment belonged to Samoilov. The exposition reflects the history of this actors’ family, whose representatives were shining at Saint-Petersburg’s stage for almost one and a half century.
